“Naked truths aren’t always pretty.”

Lily finds herself falling for Ryle, a successful neurosurgeon that seems both intelligent and charming. Their relationship begins in a cat and mouse chase where Ryle is seeking out Lily with no intentions of starting anything serious, while Lily spends her time deciding whether she is interested in a one night stand. To both of their surprise, their connection grows stronger and they decide to take their relationship to the next level.

Just as their relationship is peaking, Atlas, Lily’s first love, enters the picture. Seeing Atlas brings up old feelings that Lily is unable to ignore. She does her best to avoid him, but their paths inevitably cross causing issues in her new relationship with Ryle. Tension builds and hearts are broken.

“Sometimes an unexpected wave comes along, sucks you up and refuses to spit you back out.”

Colleen Hoover is notorious for writing great romance novels and It Ends With Us is no exception. If you haven’t read a Colleen Hoover book yet, I highly suggest starting with this one! It is a story of love, passion, and impossible situations. This book was difficult to put down as every chapter had a new, unexpected twist that left me aching for more.

“Sometimes it seems easier to just keep running in the same familiar circles, rather than facing the fear of jumping and possibly not landing on your feet.”

I found myself inspired by Lily’s courage and motivation. She was forced to make an impossible decision, one we all hope we never have to make. Despite this, she continued pushing forward and making her dreams come true. The book did an amazing job of portraying exactly how she was feeling in each situation. Every emotion that she experienced, I felt it with her. There were parts where I laughed out loud and parts where I cried.

One of the things that I loved most about this book is that there wasn’t just one knight in shining armor that the author was guiding me to cheer for. Both Ryle and Atlas had loveable characteristics, making it difficult for me to root for just one of them.

“My favorite conversations are the ones with no real answers”

It Ends With Us is a captivating story that takes its readers on an emotional roller coaster of love and passion. The underlying theme of this story sends a strong message in what strength truly looks like and plays at the idea that things may not always be as they seem. The ending of the story leaves on a cliffhanger, with the much anticipated sequel It Starts With Us being released on October 18th! In case you didn’t already expect it, yes, I have preordered it!
